Kumudini Women’s Medical College (KWMC) is a private women's medical college located in Tangail, Bangladesh. Kumudini Women’s Medical College (KWMC) was established within the umbrella of Kumudini Welfare Trust in 2001. The aim is to materialize the dream of the founder by enrolling enthusiastic, dedicated and academically gifted female students who would pursue education which meets their needs and responds to the demand and opportunities of medicine, science, ethics and public policy. KWMC, therefore, recruits academically outstanding and culturally diverse students from Bangladesh and beyond. Course Curriculum: MBBS

Duration:  5 years Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with an additional one-year internship training. (Internship Valid in India)
 

Examinations:

  • The MBBS degree requires 5 years of academic course followed by one year of internship in the affiliated hospital.
  • Four Professional Examinations are conducted by the University of Dhaka.
  • The Professional MBBS Examinations (1st, 2nd, 3rd & Final Professional) occur either on the first week of May or November in each year as per the new curriculum.
  • Each subject under the course is divided into a certain number of items and cards examination. To appear at the professional examinations all students have to complete the assigned cards.
  • The pass mark for University examination for written, oral and practical/clinical examinations is 60% individually.
  • Student passing in the regular MBBS Examination will be eligible to obtain honours ( 85% marks ) and place (up to 10th place ) in order of merit.

 

Local Examination: 

After completion of cards students in pre and para-clinical subjects have to appear in term examinations periodically. Similarly, clinical students have to complete items followed by ward completion examinations. Finally, before placement for university professional examinations all students have to appear in a pre-professional Examinations in each phase. 

End-course Examination:

The University of Dhaka conducts four professional examinations both for the 5-year MBBS course and 5 years BDS Course.

Field Activities: 

The 3rd yr MBBS students have to complete a one-month COME (Community Oriented Medical Education) as follows:

  • RFST (Residential Field Site Training) for 10 days.
  • Day Visit (at least 8 visits to be performed) for 10 days.
  • Study Tour (to observe different national health-related organizations) for 10 days.

University (Professional) Examination:

  • 10% marks of the written examination of each paper for each subject is allocated for formative assessment.
  • 20% of marks are allocated for MCQ for each paper. There are separate answer scripts for MCQ examination.
  • 70% marks are allocated for SAQ (Short Answer Question) in all subjects (except in Community Medicine) for each paper. Final professional OSPE examinations are conducted by the University of Dhaka on the same date and time.

Internship MBBS
 
Internship training is an integral part of medical education and is accredited by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC). After passing the final MBBS examination of the University of Dhaka, a graduate has to undergo a one-year internship at Kumudini Women’s Medical College Hospital. After successful completion of the internship, all interns will be eligible to receive registration from BM&DC.

Eligibility Criteria of Kumudini Women's Medical College (KWMC) Tangail

Eligibility criteria for admission to the MBBS course 2021-22:

  • Must have passed Qualifying examination (HSC/'A') or equivalent examination.
  • SSC/'O' level or equivalent examination be passed 3 years of HSC/'A' level or equivalent.
  • HSC/ 'A' or equivalent examination be passed in 2021/ 2020.
  • Minimum aggregate GPA in SSC 'O' level or equivalent and HSC / 'A' level or equivalent examination: 8 GPA
  • Minimum GPA in SSC/ 'O' level or equivalent and HSC / 'A' level or equivalent examination: 3GPA
  • Minimum GPA in Biology: 3.5 
  • For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SC/ 'O' level or equivalent exam, only the top 5
    subjects are considered. Therefore, GPA in "O' levcl= (total marks obtained in top five subjectsy5.
    The optional subject shall be considered if GPA is below 5 (five)
    For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in HSC/'A' level or equivalent exam, only 3 subjects
    (Physics. Chemistry and Biology) are considered for calculation GPA. Qualifying Grade in each subject
    individually is 'C'. Therefore, GPA in 'A' level = (total marks obtained in three subjects)/3.

You have to undertake the following steps if you decided to get admitted into Kumudini Women's Medical College.

  • Get the photocopies of the following documents attested from the foreign ministry of your country.
    i. School/College graduation certificates
    ii. Mark/grade sheet
    iii. School leaving certificate (Testimonial)
    iv. Copy of Passport
    v. Two passport-size photographs of the applicant.
  • Download the MBBS admission form’ from the website of the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry(www. mofa.gov.bd) and fill it up. You must mention your medical college of choice.
  • Pay $70 (Subject to change) in any bank in your country in favor of DGHS and get the receipt.
  • Deposit your attested documents, bank receipt, and filled admission form to the Bangladesh Embassy of your country for processing of Grade Equivalency and permission from the Government of Bangladesh. You can do this job by yourself or by an agent.
  • Send copies of your certificates, mark sheets, passport, and a letter of intent to the Kumudini Women's Medical College Authorized representative (Email: [email protected] or WhatsApp: +918499000022) for booking of your seat.
  • Having received the permission letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the grade equivalency of your certificates, the CareerMarg office would inform you and proceed with your admission.
